Bent Axis Pumps:

  • Common Usage: These are specialized pumps commonly used in mobile and industrial hydraulic systems;
  • Functioning Mechanism: They feature a rotating cylinder equipped with pistons set in an angular pattern to facilitate fluid movement;
  • Viscosity Preference: Bent axis pumps can accommodate a wide range of viscosities, typically between 10 and 600 CST, although this can vary based on specific designs and applications.

Considerations for Selecting the Right Lubricant

Selecting an inappropriate lubricant won’t immediately cripple your hydraulic system; however, it will eventually lead to incremental damage. Here are key points to consider when choosing:

  • Lubricating Qualities: The lubricant should provide smooth movement of components;
  • Power Transmission: The fluid should be able to transfer power efficiently throughout the hydraulic system;
  • Sealing Abilities: It should be able to act as a gasket sealer to prevent leaks;
  • Heat Dissipation: The fluid should also serve as a heat transfer medium to keep the system cool;
  • Chemical Composition: Lubricants can be petroleum-based, synthetic, or water-based, each with its own pros and cons.

Conclusion

Viscosity is a critical parameter that influences the efficiency and longevity of hydraulic pumps. Different pumps have varying requirements that need to be accurately matched with the appropriate lubricating fluids to ensure optimal performance.

Therefore, understanding the viscosity needs of your specific pump is essential in making an informed choice for your hydraulic system’s health and efficiency.

Owning a Jeep can be an incredible experience, providing you with hours of enjoyable off-roading adventures or leisurely drives around town in style, but like any vehicle on the road today, it needs regular maintenance to stay running its best for years to come. To help you keep your Jeep in optimal condition and ensure it runs smoothly and safely, here are some easy maintenance tips that every Jeep owner should know.

Oil Changes and Filter Replacements

One of the most important parts of routine maintenance is changing your oil on a regular basis. The frequency at which you should do this depends on the type of oil you use, how often you drive, and the type of driving that you do (i.e., off-roading versus highway driving). Generally speaking, it’s recommended to change your oil every 3,000 to 5,000 miles or as specified by your vehicle’s manufacturer.

When it comes to choosing an oil for your Jeep, there are several different types available ranging from conventional oils to synthetic blends to full synthetics; which one is best for you depends largely on your driving habits and preferences. Many people opt for synthetic blends or full synthetics because they last longer than conventional oils and offer better protection for high-performance engines; however, they tend to be more expensive so it’s up to you whether you want to make the investment or not.

In addition to changing the oil regularly, it’s also important to replace the oil filter. Most automakers recommend that you change the filter every time you change your oil, and any good auto parts store will be able to supply you with a quality replacement filter for your Jeep.

Tire Checks and Rotations

Tires are one of the most frequently overlooked components on a vehicle, but they’re also one of the most important in terms of safety and performance. It’s essential to check your tire pressure regularly – at least once a month – and make sure it stays within the recommended range stated in your owner’s manual or on the placard inside the driver’s door jamb. Low tire pressure can cause premature tire wear and negatively impact fuel economy, so be sure to check it often.

In addition, it’s recommended that you rotate your tires every 5,000 miles or as advised by your vehicle manufacturer; this helps ensure even tire wear which can help extend their lifespan. If you don’t feel comfortable rotating them yourself, many auto repair shops offer this service for a nominal fee.

Inspecting Brake Pads, Belts, and Hoses

Regularly inspecting brakes pads is key when it comes to keeping your Jeep safe and running smoothly. The pads should be replaced when they become too thin or show signs of wear and tear. It’s also important to check the brake rotors to make sure they aren’t warped or cracked; if they are, then it’s time for new ones.

Inspecting the serpentine belt and other belts is also a good idea; check them periodically for signs of fraying or cracking, as these can be dangerous if left unchecked. Finally, it’s important to check all your radiator hoses for signs of damage or leaks. If you notice any issues, have them taken care of as soon as possible before further damage occurs.

Regular Washing and Waxing

In addition to regular maintenance checks, it’s important to keep your Jeep looking its best with regular washing and waxing. This helps protect the paint from fading in sunlight, dirt, dust, and other debris that can dull its appearance over time. Washing your Jeep regularly removes any dirt that has built up on the surface which could potentially cause rust or damage paintwork in the long run; waxing ensures that dirt won’t stick easily and keeps the paint job looking great for longer periods of time.

Conclusion

Regular maintenance is key when it comes to making sure your Jeep stays in peak condition. Making sure to change the oil and filter regularly, checking tires, inspecting brake pads and belts, and washing and waxing the vehicle are all excellent ways to ensure that your Jeep runs safely for years to come. With these helpful maintenance tips in mind, you can be sure that your Jeep stays running its best!

ABS, or antilock braking system, has been familiar to us for a long time, but it can still puzzle us. Why does its light sometimes light up on the dashboard? Something is broken, and it’s time to save money for repair or can we do without a lot of trouble? It happens differently, but more often there is no reason to panic.

It’s simple

It may look strange, but the antilock system came to the aid of motorists not from somewhere, but from the railroad: they started using it there in the 20s of the last century. Of course, ABS had another task at that time: to block wheels of a train while braking didn’t make it skidding, but practically destroyed cast-iron wheels. And that’s why railroads were the first to invent systems that would not allow the wheels to buckle under braking. And a little later, the first ABS appeared in aviation, where it was very important to stop the plane quickly on the runway after landing and not to let it leave the runway. And only 50 years later, the antilock braking system appeared on serial cars. At first – as an option, and then, in 1978, it became base on Mercedes-Benz W116 and “Seven” BMW. Now, as you know, in Russia this system was given up, but it is temporary – it is impossible to imagine a safe car without ABS, and this system is not so difficult to find a way out of the situation.

What’s the light on?

Let’s start with the good news: sometimes a burning ABS light has nothing to do with a broken system at all. It happens when the wheels on one axle are stationary and the other axle has been spinning long enough and fast enough (or one wheel has been spinning, which is more common). Yes, this is a classic situation when slipping for long periods of time while trying to get out of mud or snow. After this action (often, let’s face it, quite useless) the ABS control unit goes crazy with sensor readings from the hubs and lights the lamp just from not understanding what is going on. After several kilometers, the lamp goes out and the system works normally. There is nothing wrong here, it is normal. It is worse, if there was no slippage, but the system is blaming something.

If it happened after replacement of a hub bearing, a hub assembly or a brake disc (in some cases), the ABS signal is not accidental. Most likely, whoever did the work didn’t pay too much attention to the installation of either the ABS sensor or its rotor (“comb”, “ring”, pulse or set rotor – there are different names for this part). In case of excessive crookedness of hands of service station employee, such variant is not only possible, but also very popular.

Sometimes this floating error may not be connected with ABS at all. The thing is that the “comb” is on the hub, and the sensor itself is very close to it, but on the stationary part of the car. The distance between them should be kept very accurately, but if the hub bearing collapses completely, the hub starts to play. And this causes the signal from the sensor to periodically go out. Honestly, I don’t think a person who has listened to the howl of a dying bearing for several hundred or even thousands of miles in peace will get worried when the ABS light is on, but still.

Another reason for the light to light up on the go is a lack of signal due to contamination of the sensor or pulse rotor, or a breakdown of the latter. In the former case, the repair comes down to cleaning the sensor and rotor. You can do it yourself, unless, of course, removal of the wheel does not cause significant difficulties (without this procedure you can not get to the sensor). You can clean both the sensor and the rotor with anything (even kerosene, carbcleaner, or an old T-shirt), the main thing is not to damage the wiring. But if you find during cleaning that the rotor is damaged (missing teeth or it just fell apart), of course, you will have to replace it.

It is much more interesting to look for a breakdown in which the system cannot self-diagnose after the ignition is turned on. That is, one in which the ABS lamp doesn’t go out a few seconds after the ignition is turned on or the engine is started.

With a tester in hand

The most likely cause of the self-diagnostic failure is a sensor failure or a break in its wiring. It is easier to start checking with the sensor itself. The easiest method is to check its resistance with a multimeter in ohmmeter mode. Different sensors have different resistances, but on average it should be between 1 and 2 kohms (more often even up to 1.5 kohms). These numbers can be used as a guide, although of course it is better to know the resistance more accurately. But the main thing is not to see zero or infinity on the multimeter: in the first case, it will indicate a short circuit, in the second – a break. Repairing the ABS sensor is useless, it will have to be replaced (which now may not be very easy due to the shortage of these parts on some cars).

For your own pleasure, you can hang out the wheel and spin it. Its sensor resistance should change. If it does not, then, probably, either there is something wrong with the “comb”, or just the sensor works, but is very dirty. In that case, though, the ABS light usually comes on on the fly, not after a failed self-diagnosis.

The wiring is more difficult to check. The ideal option is to check it with the sensor connected. But to do that, you have to remove the pad from the ABS unit and find the pairs of wires in the terminal that match from each of the wheel sensors (which are usually different colors). If at this stage, the work seems too complicated, it is better not to torture yourself and the car and go to the service.

It is necessary to note, that if there is an unreliable contact in a chain, it can be difficult to find a problem in such way: by the law of meanness, at the moment of diagnostics, the contact can appear to be reliable. To at least somehow minimize this probability, you can ask an assistant to rock the car during the measurement. Of course, such oscillations will not exclude the possibility of error completely, but sometimes it may help to notice the jumping numbers on the screen of the tester.

More often there is no signal from the sensor, if it is out of order, or if its connector is oxidized and dirty. On older cars, of course, there can be anything, but on more or less recent cars the ABS control unit fails rarely, and the wiring does not rot for a few years. And if it is block that is responsible for burning of a light, it is better to go to service: it is not so simple to repair it with your own hands.

HEMI is Chrysler’s name for the engine of its proprietary design, the combustion chamber of which has a hemispherical shape. Over the past half century, this acronym has become a sort of business card of Chrysler, and just a single mention of it immediately evokes associations with the powerful American muscle cars.

The use of a hemispherical combustion chamber allows increasing the engine’s power, since the fuel mixture burns off more completely. In addition, these engines have significantly lower noise and vibration levels.

The HEMI engine also has some obvious drawbacks. First of all, they include high production costs (due to a more complex design), low reliability, relatively high weight (HEMI weighs on average 25% more than a conventional engine), high toxicity and a fairly high (despite everything) fuel consumption. The last two disadvantages explain why engines with hemispherical combustion chambers are not widely used in cars today.

History

The history of the HEMI engine has, surprisingly enough, aviation roots. The first engine with hemispherical combustion chambers was created by Chrysler back in 1940, when the company decided to draw attention of the military to its own products. The question is about the little-known Chrysler IV-2220 – the engine, intended for use in military aviation. Actually, the shape of combustion chamber was not the only distinguishing feature of this engine – it had also 16 cylinders, inverted V-shape layout, and a monster power of 2500 hp!

But what’s even more surprising is that, despite actively promoting the HEMI brand around the world as an in-house design, it wasn’t Chrysler that invented HEMI at all. Nor was it the first to use it under the hoods of cars. Years earlier, European Peugeot and Alfa Romeo were already using similar engines. In the 40’s engines with hemispherical combustion chambers could be found on racing Jaguars, for over 30 years (1963 – 1999) such a design was used by Porsche. Similar solutions in their engines were used by BMW, Toyota, Ford, Aston Martin…

And yet, today, HEMI is associated with Chrysler. Americans, like no other, paid special attention to this engine and they were able to achieve the most impressive results. The first HEMI appeared on Chryslers back in 1951, it was the famous eight-cylinder HEMI 331 Firepower. This engine had brought the company many resounding victories and made Chrysler cars one of the most powerful and fastest on the planet.

Already the first appearance of HEMI at racetracks shocked competitors: in the race Daytona 500 of the 1964 season, Chryslers and Plymouths equipped with HEMI engines won three victories in a row. Subsequently, Chrysler rubber-stamped one victory after another, and in this year’s season the HEMI engines were unbeatable on the racetrack. The company cars were winning more and more victories and it seemed nobody could stop them. But in 1965 NASCAR even forbade the use of HEMI engines in their race cars, as these endless victories looked suspicious.

Of course, along with the racing HEMI were produced civilian versions, the so-called “Street HEMI”. While the sport version of the engine had one four-chamber carburetor and aluminum cylinder heads, the simpler road version had two carburetors, cast-iron cylinder heads, and had a lower compression ratio. The engine itself could be combined with both manual and automatic transmissions. Installing a HEMI under the hood was quite expensive and cost about $1,000.

Development

1966 was another round of development: the new HEMI 426 was introduced. The engine of this series was installed in the legendary Dodge Challenger, among others. The engine had a displacement of 7 liters (the number 426 denoted engine volume in cubic inches) and 425 horsepower. The angle between intake and exhaust valves was 58 degrees. Such monster could accelerate up to 100 km/h in 5-6 seconds (depending on model), but its appetite was adequate to its characteristics – 30-40l/100km.

It is unknown how the muscle car build-up would have ended, if not for the oil crisis in the early 70’s. Due to high fuel prices, sales of large and powerful cars dropped sharply and HEMI engines were out of demand. The last 115 “pre-crisis” HEMI engines were sold out in 1971, and then the option simply disappeared from Chrysler’s company brochures. The evolution of the HEMI temporarily paused, only to resume with renewed vigor in the 2000s. Read here about common issues of HEMI engines.

Currently, there are three generations of HEMI engines: the first one includes HEMI Firepower (1951), the second – HEMI 426 (1964) and, finally, the third generation – modern HEMI under the hoods of Chrysler and Dodge.

HEMI Advantages

Thanks to MDS (Multi Displacement System) technology, modern HEMIs also boast a relatively moderate appetite. This system was developed during an alliance with Daimler, the meaning of its work is simple enough and boils down to a mechanical shutdown of “unnecessary” cylinders at a time when the car does not require maximum power. The system is used, among other things, on the 5.7 V8 HEMI engine under the hood of the Chrysler 300C and is programmed to work in two modes – maximum fuel economy and maximum efficiency. In the first, when the car is driven at a low speed, it shuts off four cylinders, significantly reducing fuel consumption. This disconnects the cylinders in the blink of an eye, taking only 40 milliseconds! Subsequently, when the engine speed is increased, the “extra” cylinders are turned on and the most efficient operation is achieved. In addition, the modern HEMI 5.7 V8 uses an ignition system of two spark plugs per cylinder. This also contributes to a more complete combustion of the fuel mixture, resulting in increased power and lower fuel consumption.

Interesting facts from the “biography” of the HEMI:

  • The first engines with hemispherical cylinder heads appeared over 100 years ago
  • The cost of a HEMI engine in the 1950s was a third of the cost of a car
  • 1955. The Chrysler 300 HEMI is the first car with over 300 hp!
  • HEMI engine mounted on the world’s most powerful lawnmower
  • In 1991, a car with a HEMI set the all-time speed record in the Supercharged class, accelerating to 410 mph! ( 659kph).

The battle between electric and conventional gas vehicles is constantly on the rise, with each having its advantages and disadvantages, but could the top electric cars in 2022 be better than your old car that runs on gas?

Electric cars have specially made a grand entrance in 2022, and it’s picking up speed. If you look at it this way, the advantages of owning electric cars are beneficial not only for you but for the entire planet since they emit fewer air pollutants and greenhouse gasses compared to a vehicle that runs on diesel and petrol.

Besides, electric cars are known for their high performance and require very little maintenance since they do not need oil changes every 3 months or 3000 miles or parts replaced like gasoline cars.

Overall, owning an electric car is more convenient for most people, and if you’re here, you probably think so too.

This article lists some of the top electric cars in 2022 that you can buy.

Top electric cars in 2022

Kia EV6

One of the top electric cars in 2022 on our list is the Kia EV6. This innovation is a beast of its own and has a massive 77.5kw battery which even has the feature that lets you power up other EVs. But if you’re looking for the fastest or an electric car that has the longest-lasting battery? This is not it.

However, it makes up for it in different aspects. What we like about the Kia EV6 is that it is the epitome of space innovation. It is spacious enough to fit 5 passengers with an amazingly stylish exterior design, offering you a 500km (310miles) of EPA-rated range. The interiors are also designed to impress with smart and hi-tech features.

The Kia EV6 is valued and predicted to be one of the best sellers in the game for its exceptional performance and value for money.

Geely Tugella: just don’t write off the exact same model https://www.800autotalk.com/geely-tugella-just-dont-write-off-the-exact-same-model/ Sun, 30 May 2021 22:27:17 +0000 http://themes.ad-theme.com/wp/flownews_demos/cars/?p=3160 The Big Oxmox advised her not to do so, because there were thousands of bad Commas, wild Question Marks and devious Semikoli, but the Little Blind Text didn’t listen. The fashionable segment of coupe crossovers is gradually full of more and more new models. We have a rich Chinese car on the test, made on the Swedish aggregate base, and known in China under the name FY11.

Dealers now have the nerve to rewrite the price tags right in front of your eyes in the showrooms, so it becomes an extremely tedious task to choose a car. It is easier to entrust this business to the professionals, who work with closed databases of automobiles.

The Geely Tugella is based on the Swedish-Chinese CMA platform, which we have already met in the Volvo XC40. It is designed for compact cars, but in the case of the Tugella we are talking about dimensions almost comparable to the Volvo XC60.

But we couldn’t jump over the top: the wheelbase is 2 mm shorter than in XC40. The trunk, of course, is also smaller – 446 liters. So it is a universal platform, which has its limits and has a big beautiful body.

A long hood gives a massive silhouette. The grille of Geely has a secret: behind it there are louvers, which open if the engine needs to cool down. And this is clearly a European technology, which we have previously seen on the BMW models. By the way, the way to open the hood is from Bavarian brand – you should pull the lever in legs twice, and then the hood just rises on gas pads.

By the way, let’s look into the engine compartment: there is a variant of the Volvo engine, but with an index peculiar to Geely – JLH-4G20TDB. It is two-liter gasoline engine with 238 horsepower and torque of 350 Nm. It is paired with an eight-speed “automatic” Aisin, which is also used by the Swedish brand on many models.
A drive of the crossover is exclusively full and, certainly, it is also “Swedish”. Fifth generation Haldex electrohydraulics is applied here – the same as at Volvo. Clearance of “Tugella” is 204 mm, which is very decent. The four-wheel drive system allows you to fool around a little on a dirt road with the lack of grip – ESC does not meet and does not interfere with your drive. But on asphalt be kind to keep your hands, electronics reluctantly releases the car.

The fuel consumption of Geely Tugella is not the smallest, but in Volvo cars with similar motors T5 it is approximately the same – 10,5 l/100 km. For a two-liter unit of such power is very decent, especially since it clearly feels the difference between the three standard driving modes: sporty, comfortable and economical.

It often happens that even in spite of the strong exterior design, Chinese cars limp in the interiors, which seem to have been designed by neural networks. It seems that Geely has certified designers of interiors, because as in case with Coolray, the interior in our Tugella is made perfectly.

Yes, it looks a little bit dull in completely black execution, but the selection of materials and their quality dilutes this feigned severity. The design successfully combines eco leather, alcantara, brushed aluminum and even glossy plastic. But let’s speak about disadvantages.

Non-fixable gearbox lever has not obvious mechanics of control, because it is necessary to press the button to change gear – everything is clear here – but this button is not intuitively located. One wants to press the park button with the thumb and, certainly, the car will not go anywhere. The necessary button is hidden in the other side of the lever.
The cup holder block has its own chip – heating and cooling. Next to them is a button that lights either blue on cooling or orange on heating. True, this only works with the “rear” cup holder, not the one with the button next to it.
Noise isolation Geely Tugella is much better than in Coolray – how else could it be, it is after all the flagship of the brand.

The digital dashboard here is large and bright, but the onboard menu is controlled with difficulties – you need to switch to a special mode from the steering wheel. There are no problems with design, if not to count two ugly blue and red modes on economy and sports modes – their design, to put it mildly, is disputable.

The SUV’s exterior was redesigned back in 2018, surprisingly enough. The heavyweight SUV with bus-like dimensions has never looked so elegant and even with a certain sporty flavor.

The key aspect of the updated QX80 is the multimedia. Now here too, following the example of the younger models, the two-screen concept is used. The upper display always shows the map, allowing not to get lost in the process of using other menus multimedia.
The lower display is responsible for everything else, but you can also start using the navigation on both. Here are also all the settings, radio, music and climate controls.

The manufacturer notes that the QX80 now has a modern Bluetooth chip, with which you can switch tracks and audiobook chapters on your smartphone directly from the multimedia. Finally, this feature has made its way here as well.

At the same time, the menu itself multimedia has not been updated: there is still the design and graphics of the sedan Q50, on which this system debuted in 2013. Since then, almost the entire structure of the infotainment has remained unchanged.

Nevertheless, the system is still relevant to this day – it is a pleasure to use. Thanks to the new CPU, the system has smooth animations and fast response times. Almost no brakes can be seen anywhere. Separately, some of the objects on the maps of major cities pleasing to the eye: such detailed traced buildings almost none of the maps.
An attribute of 2020 is the richness of ports. There is even USB-C, which started appearing in cars not so long ago. The usual USB-A is also present here, so you don’t have to look for adapters. On the back row there are wireless headphones with good sound and even HDMI ports, with the help of which you can connect to the headrest monitors.

There is also support for Apple CarPlay with Android Auto. The image is displayed on the upper display, so that the built-in navigation can be replaced by a more modern one on a smartphone. Both protocols work almost lightning fast, delays and brakes are not observed.
We should separately mention the cabin rearview mirror, which is also a screen: it displays the image from the rearview camera, located under the spoiler so as to remain clean even in very “dirty” weather. But also with a slight click the screen turns into an ordinary mirror.

To use the mirror in camera mode at first it seems not too convenient – confused by the angle, but after half an hour I forgot that the mirror has a mode of the actual mirror. Of course, the image from the camera does not shine with clarity, graininess of the picture is quite high, but the camera does its job.

Updating of Infiniti QX80 did not affect the technical component of SUV. Under the hood is still set practical “lamp” 5.6-liter atmospheric V8 paired with a seven-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. Here everything remained without changes: power of the engine is 415 hp and torque is 560 Nm.
The all-wheel drive here works in former three modes plus a towing mode. The car rides heavy and solid. The engine is almost inaudible in a stream – thanks to reinforced noise isolation of the engine compartment. But if you push a pedal as much as possible, V8 will change from whispering to roaring.

It is better to estimate quality and a level of sound insulation, to stand in front of the hood with the started engine for about 5 minutes, and then having climbed inside. The power unit creates a lot of noise from outside. It’s necessary to remember that it is a huge atmospheric engine.

Infiniti QX80 is a big car and takes a lot of space. To park such a “truck,” you need skill. The all-around view will help you if you did not see something. It costs nothing to snag a post or fence on it – the rear bumper is literally a shelf on the back of the car.

A detailed test of the Hyundai Tucson: Time to get in line? https://www.800autotalk.com/a-detailed-test-of-the-hyundai-tucson-time-to-get-in-line/ Mon, 19 Apr 2021 22:40:42 +0000 http://themes.ad-theme.com/wp/flownews_demos/cars/?p=3157 A wonderful serenity has taken possession of my entire soul, like these sweet mornings of spring which I enjoy with my whole heart. I am alone, and feel the charm of existence in this spot, which was created for the bliss of souls like mine. I am so happy, my dear friend, so absorbed in the exquisite sense of mere tranquil existence, that I neglect my talents. I should be incapable of drawing a single stroke.

We will not argue about “parametric dynamics” – a new Hyundai design concept, in which all future models will be made, and the Tucson and the new Elantra are already made.
The given figures (including cost and discounts) are correct as of the date of publication of the material.

You just have to accept that the new Tucson looks much cooler in person than in all the photos and renders. The swollen arches, the impetuous side line, the predatory silhouette are all there, as are the LED lights built right into the grille. The turned off headlights are not noticeable at all and are hidden in the “blackness” of the grille – an interesting solution.
You can not call such design practical and functional, but we liked the plastic molding on the bottom of the car and doors, which now cover the sills – the pants stay clean.

The dimensions of the new Toussaint are the whole point. It has essentially grown in length, having added 150 mm. And all because the lengthened version of the crossover is delivered to our country, which wheelbase does not reach the size of older Santa Fe only 10 millimeters (2755 mm). Certainly, it has made the back row more spacious at once.

The rear raises more questions: Hyundai’s three-dimensional emblem looks like a plug for the rear window wiper fixing place. And the brush itself is now located under the spoiler – a good solution, but the coverage area could be bigger. Thirdly, the rear turn signals are located unaccustomedly low. There is a possibility that they can be not seen. And the forth: the rear view camera is without washer, though many competitors in the class have it at least optionally.

The volume of the trunk of Hyundai Tucson is 539 liters, but with a caveat that we took out the spare and the shelf above it. Our car has a full-size spare on the original disc, so it eats up appreciable space. Overall, there’s enough room for a couple of suitcases and a couple more gym bags.

Let’s move into the interior. Everything is new here: materials, design, multimedia from other new models of the brand, but with a little bit more compact screen – 10 inches. The tablet of the digital dashboard is the same size. Because of thick display frames, it seems as if the image with dials itself could be bigger.
The new steering wheel of complex design is equipped with all the necessary buttons. And it seems that the Tucson has become the first Hyundai vehicle to get a new lever mechanism on the steering column. It has a clearer yet softer push and click. The tips are made with a lot of small facets – it looks fresh, but there is also an opinion that it is tacky.

Our variant of the Visioner has a 2.5-liter Smartstream atmospheric engine that combines distributed and direct fuel injection, which should have a positive effect on its fuel economy.

The engine has 190 horsepower and 242 Nm of torque. It is combined with an eight-speed “automatic”. More modest variant Tucson is equipped with 2,0-liter supercharged engine with 150 powers. There is also a diesel – 2,0-turbo with 186 horsepower. And it seems to be the optimal choice for fans of a more dynamic ride, but it’s also the most expensive.

Our 2,5-liter engine is enough for “Toussan”, but not more than that. If a start from a place the crossover is given easily and easy, then acceleration up to 100 km/h is already difficult. As a whole, Tucson disposes to measured comfortable driving, instead of cheerful “draughts”.

Reactions on a gas pedal are rather sluggish, phlegmatic. Often the “automatic device” hesitates for a second or two that influences sensations. In a word, the power unit is obviously not intended for active driving, even in the Sport mode.

And there is one more trick in Hyundai Tucson: for the first time in “Korean” we have met the system Start-Stop which stops the engine when it stops. And knowing, that this system frankly infuriates many people, Hyundai has made it “clever”: if you have switched it off, the next start the car will remember it and will leave it switched off.

Our 2.5 engine wanted to crank all the time. Average consumption sometimes reached 10.7 l/100 km/h. On the highway with measured driving it will not eat more than 7.5 l/100 km. The city traffic mode instantly raises the appetite above 9 liters.

The new Tucson is built on already familiar to us from Sonata and restyled Santa Fe platform N3 – the third generation. The configuration of a suspension here does not differ from “brothers”: McPherson struts in front, and multilever design in back. By the way, the front-wheel drive versions are deprived of a notorious beam – they also have a multilever bar behind.
